This project was developed for an engineering company whose previous website suffered from poor design and lacked the necessary funnels to drive business conversions. My goal was to change that by delivering Zippy a website that stands out and enhances their online presence.
This project was a fun and creative experience, as the client gave me full freedom to make the creative decisions. However, the process wasn't without its challenges.
Key Challenges
This project came with a few key challenges:
1. Conveying a masculine and professional design in line with the 'engineering aesthetic': Engineering websites often require a balance between technical professionalism and an approachable design. I needed to create a look that was masculine, bold, and clean while maintaining a user-friendly experience.
2. Incorporating automated systems: The client requested streamlined online booking forms and automated contact forms to improve business conversions. These systems needed to be seamlessly integrated while maintaining the overall aesthetic and functionality of the site.
3. Effective use of images: Engineering can often be seen as technical and complex, so finding the right visuals to communicate professionalism while being visually engaging was crucial. The images needed to resonate with the target audience without overwhelming them.
Solutions
To address these challenges, I focused on creating a design that blended modern, masculine elements with user-friendly features.
1. Design and Aesthetic: I used strong, clean lines with a palette of red and black, matching the logo, to evoke a professional and industrial feel. Bold typography and structured layouts gave the site a polished, masculine look while maintaining clarity and readability.
2. Automated Systems: I integrated automated booking and contact forms to improve the client’s lead conversion rate. These forms were designed to be simple yet effective, allowing users to easily engage with the company without navigating through a cluttered interface.
3. Images and Visuals: High-quality images were selected carefully to reflect both the engineering industry and the client’s specific brand. The images were incorporated strategically to break up text, making the website visually engaging without overwhelming visitors.
Conclusion
The result was a professional, well-structured website that not only aligned with the client's vision but also boosted their business functionality. The masculine design, combined with automated systems, improved the user experience, leading to a noticeable increase in conversions and customer engagement. By effectively using visuals and modern design techniques, we ensured the site felt approachable while maintaining an engineering-focused aesthetic.
Overall, this project was a great success, and the client was thrilled with the final outcome. It was rewarding to take full creative control and see the project come together in a way that both met the client’s needs and improved their online presence.
